Step-by-Step Spring Wreath Instructions

Preparation: If you’d like to plant the seeds *and* use the seed packets for this spring garden wreath, carefully open the flap on the back of the seed packets, remove the seeds, and glue the packet closed again.

Step 1: Determine the spring wreath layout

Begin by heating up your glue gun. While it heats up, arrange the flower seed packets and the gardening gloves around the wreath form until you’re happy with the layout. Stagger the packets in different directions to cover the wreath form and create a wider wreath.

Step 2: Glue the seed packets to the wreath frame

Apply a line of hot glue to both the outer and inner rims of the wire wreath form in one small section, where the bottom-most seed packet will be located.

Press firmly on the seed packet to adhere it to the wreath form.

Continue gluing the other seed packets to the wreath form until they are all secured in place. Leave a gap for the gloves.

Step 3: Add the garden gloves to the wreath

In the gap on one side of the wreath, apply hot glue to all of the wires, preferably where there is a wire across. Apply hot glue to the back of the gloves as well.

Press the garden gloves firmly onto the glue.

Create a simple bow with the ribbon. See our tips here for 2 ways to make pretty bows (in any size!)

Add a dab of hot glue to the backside of the bow. Place the bow on top of the gloves and secure it in place with additional hot glue if needed.

Variations for the Dollar Store Spring Wreath

  • Add artificial flowers or fresh greenery for a fuller wreath with more color. Weave flower garlands through the wreath form to fill in gaps. A tulip stem or peony blooms tucked inside the gloves will be darling, or you can use zip ties to add a small planting pot with flowers and moss.
  • Experiment with different ribbon colors and patterns to match your home decor or personal style. The Dollar Tree spring ribbons with bees or flowers are a cute addition.
  • Incorporate embellishments such as faux or die cut butterflies, bees, or ladybugs for a whimsical touch. Loose flower petals would be a great addition, too.
  • Personalize your wreath by adding a wooden monogram or sign in the center, like we did with this Dollar Tree spring flower door wreath.
  • Go bigger! Use a larger 18″ wreath base form and place a metal welcome sign in the center, surrounded by the seed packets, for a bigger impact spring decoration.
  • Try using different types of gloves, such as gardening gloves with floral patterns, for added texture and visual interest.

Common Questions About Dollar Store Spring Wreath DIY

  1. Can I use a different type of wreath form? While the wire wreath form is recommended for its sturdiness and ease of use, you can certainly experiment with foam, straw, or grapevine wreath forms if desired.
  2. How long will this wreath last outdoors? Since the seed packets are lightly waxed paper, this spring wreath can be hung outdoors in a covered area to last through the season. However, it’s best to avoid prolonged exposure to harsh weather conditions to preserve its integrity, especially if you add faux flowers.
  3. Can I add additional decorations to the wreath? Absolutely! Feel free to unleash your creativity and add your own personal touches to the wreath, whether it’s additional embellishments, seasonal accents, or festive ornaments. For spring faux florals: puss* willows, twigs, and lilac blooms are great choices, or a few springs of berries, queen anne’s lace, lavender, or magnolia or eucalyptus foliage.
