B. Set-up

On a pink construction paper, draw the letter B with a pencil and outline it with glue. Create ears with white and pink construction paper.

C. Activity

Let your little one stick cotton balls on to create the letter! They can glue on the eyes and ears! Help them create a nose and some whiskers.

#2: Do-A-Dot Letter Search

Who doesn’t love mess-free art?! Do-A-Dot paint markers are pretty mess-free as long as your little one doesn’t wipe them all over their hand, wishful thinking, right?!

This letter B craft is a great way for the kids to show you they are able to differentiate the letters of the alphabet.

3. Activity

Your little ones with use the paint markers to place a dot on only the letter B. See if they can find all the letter B’s on their own. To extend the learning, have them count how many letter B’s they found on the sheets.

#3: Letter B Search and Match

My kids are OBSESSED with search and match activities. Honestly, whenever I create a game using this same set-up, even though they have done it so many times, it’s always their favorite.

B. Set-up

Draw an upper and lower case letter on cardstock paper. Tape it up on the wall! On post-it’s, write a bunch of upper and lower case letters, then hide them around your house or classroom.

C. Activity

Have your kids search for the post-it notes! Once they find one, have them place it on the matching letter they see on the paper. Once all of them are found, hide them again and repeat!

I wouldn’t be surprised if you do this activity several times through!

#4: Find and Cover

This letter B activity is wonderful to work on the differences between upper and lower case letters.

It’s a simple set up and a fun way for kids to work on coding skills!

B. Set-up

Print off the letter B and any other letter you want to work on with your little one.

C. Activity

Have your child identify the letter. Then, have them tell you which one is upper case and which one is lower case. Explain to them what a key means. Show them that they are to look at the key to see what color represents the upper and lower case letters.

They should place that colored counting cube on the correct letters!

#5: Letter B Bear Collage

This cute bear letter B craft collage is adorable and a great way for kids to practice their handwriting skills.

Creating a bear is a great way for kids to learn the letter B sound.

How to do this activity

A. Materials you need

  • construction paper
  • pencil

  • googly eyes
  • glue stick
  • scissors

B. Set-up

You can use my letter B bubble letter printout to craft this letter B. Along with the letter B is a handwriting line so your kids can work on writing the letter.

Or, if you are good at drawing bubble letters, don’t worry about using the printout!

C. Activity

Cut out the letter B and paste it to paper. Next, make ears, a nose, and paws for the bear by making circles and semi-circles.

Use a glue stick to paste on all the parts! Then, lastly, add some googly eyes.

You can have the kids practice writing the letter B on the lines provided in the FREE printable!

#6: Salt Painting

Have you ever tried salt painting? It always turns out SO pretty!

Kids love watching the paint flow throughout the salt. This is a fun and different letter B craft your kids will LOVE!

B. Set-up

On your piece of cardboard, draw the letter B with a pencil. Then, outline the letter in glue. Make sure to place the cardboard on an art tray for the next part! Shake a whole bunch of salt all over the glue, then dump the access in the trash.

*You have to let the glue dry before you start painting, or else it will be REALLY messy!*

C. Activity

Have your little ones use watercolor paints to paint the salt! It looks terrific, too, when you mix different colors throughout the letter.

#7: Secret Letters

Kids love the element of surprise! Who doesn’t? I still do!

This letter B craft is great really engaging for kids because they can’t see the letters on the paper, so when they paint over the piece of paper, they will see letters magically pop up!

How to do this activity

A. Materials you need

B. Set-up

On a white piece of cardstock, use a white crayon to write the letter B all over the paper. You can do upper and lower case or just focus on one.

C. Activity

Your kiddo will use watercolors to paint all over the paper. They will see the letters start to pop up! If you mixed upper and lower case letters, make sure to ask them which kind they found.

When you are all done, ask them how many they found! Also, you can talk about the colors that they used for color recognition.

Go through each of the objects or animals that are inside the letter B. Say the name of each thing and make each object’s beginning sound before saying the whole word. This will help your little one understand the starting sound of each picture they see.

They will color each thing that starts with the letter B!

B. Set-up

Cut a paper plate in half and cut the front corner off of it. Pre-cut circles for the wheels of the bus. Lastly, print and cut out the letter b sorting cards.

C. Activity

Your kids can use the yellow do-a-dot marker to cover the paper plate in yellow. Once that dries, write an upper case B on one and a lower case b on the other. Your kids will place the correct cards on the right bus by gluing them on the plate!

#10: Letter Threading

Threading activities are so great for those fine motor skills! It’s also a great way to practice letter differentiation!

I am using the same letters that I used for the sensory bin you’ll see below. I love when you can use supplies for other activities because it makes it worth your money when you can use them in multiple ways!

Dump out a bunch of letters; make sure you grab out a whole bunch of the letters that you want your little one to find and thread.

C. Activity

Have them pick out the letter b’s and string them on the lace. They can create a necklace and wear it if they want to! They can also search for other letters and do the same thing or even create their name!

Flatten out a coffee filter on an art tray. Create a design using a marker on the filter. You can even scribble on it! Once done, spray it with water and let dry.

C. Activity

Fold front and back like an accordion. Then, place the clothespin in the middle and stretch out the sides to look like a butterfly!

Use your supplies to create each letter of the alphabet. I purposely chose simple things because toddlers and preschoolers will want to create each letter in an easy way!

B. Set-up

On a piece of cardstock paper, write a big bubble letter B. Place a tray underneath the paper to help with the mess.

C. Activity

Dump a bunch of cookie sprinkles onto the tray. Ask your little one to use the paintbrush to “sweep” the sprinkles into the letter. They will use as many sprinkles as they need to to try to fill in as much of the letter as they can!

This is an excellent activity to work on fine motor skills and letter recognition, and pre-writing skills!

This activity asks them to identify what each letter is they create and how many blocks it took for them to create the letter. Final Thoughts and Conclusion

Individual letter activities are a fantastic way for kids to really grasp letter recognition of each letter of the alphabet! Doing some of these activities will help your little ones remember each letter of the alphabet.

To go along with these activities, I suggest reviewing the alphabet letters once a day for at least 5 minutes. That’s it! 5 minutes is all it takes if you consistently go over the information with them; you’re going to see how they can pick up the information if repeated daily.
